The Psychology of Crown Chakra Activation

Published by ms at 7:49 pm under Book of Magic

Excerpt from The Book of Magic: The Psychology and Psychopathology of Crown Chakra Activation (or, channeling the spirit world).

In the last chapter I tried to impress on you the importance of mental control. As I said, as you progress through your awakening process, you need to keep control of the thought processes of your physical unit. Under moderately normal conditions, learning mental control should be a simple matter of practice. If you get an idea in your head that you don’t like, kick it out so that only the idea that you do like seeds and takes root. It is important you do this for so many reasons but if you boil it down to the essence, it’s really just to ensure that the extra power that is added to the physical unit when connecting with The Fabric doesn’t spiral our reality down and out of control. Therefore when you approach the power of The Fabric, stay in control of the physical unit and its mental processes. Of course, this isn’t to say that you should shy away from the process of expanding your connection to Fabric because it is something that you can learn to handle and deal with properly. At the same time however, you want to be cautious and take precautions. Go as slow as you need to. Take as many pauses as you like. If you keep your intent to move forward clear, you’ll be fine no matter how slow you are moving. And if you’re finding it tough, and you’re getting stuck, or you’re losing control of your thoughts, power down, sit tight, and get some help.

Before we get into the actual process of expanding your connection, I want to take a couple of chapters to mention a few more things that you should consider before you get started. These things amount to a kind of preflight (or “pre trip” if you like) checklist. Like the skill of mental control, these are the things that you should “have in the trunk” before you turn the key and start the engine. Having these in the trunk before you get started will help you avoid some of the common pitfalls that often create bumpy, foreshortened, and even cross circuited awakening experiences. Of course, as always I want to remind you not to obsess about these things or let difficulties turn you away from moving forward. No matter what, full awakening is within the reach of everybody on this planet. It’s really just a question of timing, effort, and intent. We will start our pre-trip checklist by considering, in this chapter, the bodily ego of the physical unit.

Healthy Bodily Ego.

Now, the first thing you want to make sure of before you start expanding your connection too much is that you have a healthy bodily ego.[1]This is very important. In fact, I really cannot overemphasize how important it is. Without a healthy ego, without clear ego boundaries, without strong bodily self esteem and a strong sense of self, you run the risk of developing what we might call connection pathologies. Connection pathologies, which are a kind of egoic short circuit can range anywhere from mild ego abnormalities, through to serious ego damage, spiritual neurosis, spiritual emergency,[2] and even spiritual psychosis.[3]

I’m not kidding.

This is seriously powerful stuff.

So, if after reading this chapter you feel you have ego issues, my advice is that you work on those first before getting too fired up about opening up your communication channels.

We’re going to talk about some of the connection pathologies that can arise when you prematurely connect with The Fabric of Consciousness, or do so when there are psychological pathologies that adhere in the physical unit later in this book. However, in this chapter and the next I want to provide you with some ideas on how you might identify for yourself any ego issues that you (or someone you know) might have. Consider this a type of self-diagnosis exercise that you can use to identify areas that require work. Keep in mind a couple of things before we get started. First of all, understand that this is a very quick overview. The psychology of the physical unit, and the importance of a healthy bodily ego is big enough to fill another book or two at least. I’m not saying this to discourage you, I’m just saying that even after you’ve read this chapter (and in fact this entire book) you should keep your mind open to additional high quality and uncompromisingly accurate information. We’re still pretty much at the primer stage in this book and there’s lot more to go over and discuss as we all awaken, empower, and ascend.

Second, keep in mind that the presence of one or two ego pathologies doesn’t necessarily mean you’d encounter problems when expanding your connection, especially if you go slowly, and especially if you have good support (see the next chapter). As long you go slow, as long as you have good support, and as long as you know what to watch for, you should be able to deal with things as they come up even if you’ve issues.[4] Conversely, the faster you’re moving forward, and the less good support you have, the more likely it is you’ll run into problems even if you have a healthy ego. So, never feel bad about going at your own pace, or about reaching out for support and help if you need it. It’s safer that way and besides, we all have a lot of damage to undo, so we all need to help each other with this. As long as you keep your intent to move forward pure and honest, you’ll be fine.

With that said, the question before is, how do you identify an unhealthy ego?

Well, contrary to what you might expect, it’s not so easy. The problem is not that there aren’t any signs are indicators of unhealthy ego, there are and to someone tuned in it is pretty easy to spot. The problem is that under conditions of “normal” consciousness the indicators can be very subtle and easily missed (either accidentally or intentionally), especially if you are trying to deceive yourself and prove you are egoically healthy even when you are not. I mean, you can have a regular job in a regular work place, have a normal family and a normal life and yet have a profoundly dysfunctional and damaged ego structure. Under normal conditions however, this isn’t a problem. In fact, under normal conditions this is actually desirable. The System[5] is designed to work with damaged and easily tractable egos and so a lot of effort goes into convincing us that pathological ego structures are in fact normal, even healthy. It’s a big game we play, and a complex façade that we wear, and even real sick puppies can be functional (and therefore seem healthy to themselves and others) under “normal” conditions.

Of course, that’s not true when you begin to expand your connection. When you begin to expand your connection, when you begin to flash your brain or open the spiritual oxygen flow, ego difficulties become, as we will see in the chapters on connection pathologies, blatantly obvious. The simple truth is, weak egos in damaged physical units have difficulty handling the influx of higher consciousness. The extra processing power that comes with expansion of consciousness, the uncompromising push for truth, the adamant drive to face the reality of your situation, puts incredible strain on a damaged ego. Depending on several factors (like the extent of the damage, the presence of positive and knowledgeable supports), the strain may even lead to various forms of pathology or even total collapse. So it’s definitely something you want to watch out for?

But how?

How do you identify unhealthy ego structures if you can’t really identify unhealthy ego in conditions of day-to-day normal consciousness.

Well, that’s not so hard. All you have to do is look for certain pathological conditions which contribute to damage of the bodily ego. It’s like breaking an arm really. If somebody comes to you with a broken arm you ask, how did that happen? Generally there’s only a few things that can do that (i.e., blunt force trauma, serious fall, etc.). It’s the same with bodily ego. There are certain events in your life (and especially your childhood) which have a tendency to weaken and break the bodily ego. If you see these events in your life, then this is an indication that you may, under conditions of increasing strain caused by an influx of consciousness, run into difficulties. Once again there’s no guarantee you’ll run into problems, and this certainly isn’t an argument for you to stop forward movement, but it is indication that caution is required, that’s all.

So, what are these traumatic life events which break the bodily ego? Well, they are child abuse, improper attachment, and spiritual indoctrination. Let us look at each of these in turn.

[1] I define ego as a combination of identity, perspective, and will (or I, eye, and will). Bodily ego is the ego that arises in the physical unit as result of the presence of consciousness in the body. The relationship between bodily ego, spiritual ego, and the brain is discussed in The Book of Consciousness.
